KeyClub
With
Valentine’s Day rapidly approaching, Meadowdale High Key Club members are
busy preparing to launch a “Rose/Card Valentine” sale at school. Orders will
be taken, flowers and supplies will be purchased, and the items will be
available for pick up Feb. 13, the day before Valentine’s Day. Proceeds from
the sale will be used to help defray expenses for those attending the Key
Club N.W.District Convention, scheduled for April in Seattle.
Meadowdale
High Librarian, Mrs. Ireland, addressed the club Thursday morning, January
29. She was enlisting the help of Key Club in getting a campaign going to
“flush out” overdue library books and have them returned. Far too many books
are overdue, so rather than using punitive tactics, Mrs. Ireland is
promoting a positive approach. . .making it somewhat competitive and
rewarding to rescue and return books.,,and call it “Bring Back a Bag of
Books” This project will be given more attention after Valentine’s Day. Our
Kiwanis Club is very pleased to endorse such a project as it is right on
target with our goals. |

President’s Corner
Our
attention is now drawn to the upcoming Founder’s Day Luncheon. A huge amount
of effort and energy on the part of our chairman, Ben Snowdon, who almost
single handedly gets this event going, truly rates the appreciation of all
of us in the club. Without Ben we’d be scrambling! We are again looking
toward a solid turn out and another dandy luncheon on February 24th at Mill
Creek. Thanks Ben ….!!
Mentioned
at our January 27th meeting was our contact made with the Meadowdale
Preschool (Sponsored by the Edmonds Parks and Recreation Department). We
observed a well administered program that we would be pleased to lend our
support to, fitting well into our Young People Priority One focus. Plans are
to work closely with director Heather Gertz in helping to provide reading
and pre-reading materials.
Our
recent program speaker, Postmaster Frank Ohno, sought our club support with
their very well organized one day community wide food drive in May. We do
“our thing” in November and December with the local Food Bank and I’m sure
we can give support in May to our Postal Workers. Hopefully we’ll get some
specifics soon as to how we can be “club supportive” on Saturday, May 8.
Remember
in the January Tidal Tales I asked a volunteer to work with the Snohomish
Club members in “building” a Division 22 WEB site? Paul Jacobson is the
MAN!
There
will be a Div. 22 meeting in Monroe on Thursday, Feb. 12, at 7: PM.
District meetings are for all members. Why not attend?
Let’s do more in ‘04!
President Elwin

Clueless in Edmonds!
Frank Ohno, Edmonds brand new postmaster was our Program person on Jan. 27.
It appears as if our 98020 Zip code doesn’t cover all of Edmonds. If you
live south of Olympic View Drive to about 182nd St. S.W.; north of 244th St.
S.W. (205th St. at it’s Shoreline boundary) and west of 91st Ave. W., you
are in the 98020 Zip code area. Outside of these boundaries, most are in the
Zip code 98026 area. Questions? Call the postal service at 1-800-275-8777.

CRAB FEED
The Sno-King Kiwanis 35th Annual crab & spaghetti feed was on January 24th
at the St. Pius X Church. Even at $30.00 per plate, it was well worth it.
Besides all the crab you could eat, spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, beer,
wine, pop, coffee and brownies, the music was wonderful. A motley crowd
enjoyed the food and dancing. If you weren’t there, you missed a truly fun
evening.
