"DIBE" DELIVERS AGAIN!!

Our top-notch salesman Dibe hasn't lost his momentum in ticket sales. Phenomenal is putting it mildly.

 VICTOR J. MATHISON   9-5-1910  to 6-2-2004

With Vic dying it leaves Everett Olsen as the sole charter member of the Tillicum Kiwanis Club. In the earlier years Vic was one who could be relied on to involve himself in whatever club project was being pursued. Those of us that worked the ice-cream bar sales at the Evergreen State Fair were trained by Vic in making the ice-cream bars. He was one "tough instructor" but wanted to make sure they were done right! Moving to Snohomish in 1950 we had Vic as our mailman. He learned my wife came from England a year earlier so as special treats periodically she would find a packet of smoked salmon in the mail box. Needless to say, she admired Vic for the 54 years she knew him. He is the one member who always contributed jokes and articles to your editor for the newsletter. A great guy who is ooina to be missed by all.

US SENIORS!

My forgetter's getting better

But my rememberer is broke

To you that may seem funny

But to me, that is no joke.

For when I'm "here" I'm wondering

If I really should be "there"

And when I try to think it through,

I haven't got a prayer.

Oft times ! walk into a room

Say "what am I here for?"

! wrack my brain, but all in vain!

A zero, is my score.

At times I put something away

Where it is safe, but Gee!

The person it is safest from

Is, generally me!

When shopping I may see someone

Say "Hi" and have a chat,

Then, when the person walks away

I ask myself, "who was that?"

Yes, my forgetter's getting better

While my rememberer is broke,

And ifs driving me plumb crazy

and that isn't any joke.

ISSAQUAH-ARLINGTON

EVERETT OLSEN LAST TILLICUM CHARTER MEMBER

With the death of Vic Mathison Everett is the sole surviving charter member of the Tillicum Kiwanis, having joined on the 12th of November 1974. He was the first president serving two terms. On July 13th he will be celebrating 4 score & a decade (that's 90 years for you who are poor at math). Everett has slowed down a lot but with the help of his loving and devoted daughter Darlene Huntington he is still to be seen at functions where he feels compelled to make an appearance. So, when you see Everett, take time to greet him, shake his hand and wish him well.

IS IT TIME TO MOVE?

If St. Michaels think our rent is too low we should seriously think about finding another facility! How about the Everett Olsen Activity Center? Could they take care of our needs? Or, the new Senior Center ,when it is buiit. We should be looking at locations that are in tune to contributing to the community, which means our rental fees should be reflective of their being a part of contributing to the community. This is an item that should be discussed at the July 19th Board Meeting. Feedback from the membership would be great.

I PLEDGE ALLEGIANCE TO THE FLAG OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, AND TO THE REPUBLIC FOR WHICH IT STANDS, ONE NATION UNDER GOD,  INDIVISIBLE WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.

"OLD AGE IS NOT FOR SISSIES"  (PART 2)

"You know when you're getting older when you do the crossword puzzle in ink because you can't read the answers in pencil.

Age is the high price to pay for maturity.

! know a man who gave up smoking, sex, and rich food. He was healthy right up to the time he killed himself!

Old age is when your clothes no longer fit, and it's you who need the alterations.

I think you can destroy your now by worrying about tomorrow.

The best way to grow old is not to be in a hurry about it.

At my age I don't even buy green bananas.

The secret of staying young is to live honestly, eat slowly, and lie about your age.

Part 3 will be in the August issue

SALMON BAR-B-QUE

YARD SALE-SILENT AUCTION

JULY 10th & 11th HILL PARK

At the April 19th Executive Board Meeting discussion was if we could effectively hold all three functions on the same dates at Hill Park. It became apparent that if this is undertaken we must have the "manpower" to handle the three functions. This boils down to this. First to work at the salmon bar-b-que in the food area you must have a valid health permit. Jack King must know how many will be working in this area. So it is imperative you let him know immediately who you are! Secondly, we must know who is willing to work the yard sale. A sign up sheet will be sent around soon for this. Third, Doris Wentworth needs to know who plans to assist her with the silent auction, Even if you have physical limitations there are some tasks you will be able to do. There will be signs to place around town, flyers to distribute, tickets to sell... A job for most everyone. LET'S GET BEHIND THIS AND MAKE IT A REAL SUCCESS. THE PROCEEDS MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR YOUR CLUB TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE VARIOUS PROGRAMS IN THE DISTRICT!  Suggestions from the membership are welcome so let's hear what you have to say. If you think holding all three is too much, say so. Your feedback is essential.
